Technique Essay

Three techniques that I’m using in this essay are Rules of Thirds, Using Focal Points in Photograph, and last but not least Photographing Children-Composition.

Rules of Thirds indentify four important parts of the image that you should consider placing points of interest in as you frame your image. Rule of Thirds also gives you four lines that are also useful positions for elements in your photo. If your place points of intersection or along the lines your photo becomes more balanced and will allow a viewer of the image to connect with it more naturally. Studies show that when people tend to view an image their eyes tend to go to one of the intersection points more naturally than to the center.

Using Focal Points in Photography is important because when you look at an image your eye will mainly need a ‘resting place’ or something of interest to really hold it. Without a focal point you’ll find people will just take a glimpse of your shots and then move on to the next one. They want to see something that will pop out at them.

The most important tip in photographing a baby is to get on their level. One of the best ways to get good shots of babies is to put them on a baby rug and lie down next to them with the camera right on the floor. As the babies get older and their doing their little activity hover around at their level and take plenty of shots. These are great tips on how to get a perfect image of your baby.

Thanks for reading. Hope you learned a couple of things about Rules of Thirds, Using Focal Points in Photography, and Photographing Children.
